The Wiki Creation October 1, 2009

OK. So I created my first Wiki! Now how do I use it? Who can edit it? What the heck am I getting myself into?! These are the first thoughts that crossed my mind during this creation process.
This Wiki is for a Spring Semester course I teach fully Online (CSA 149: Second Life Virtual World). It will be used to house tutorials, web links and “SLurls”. The participants will be able to add to the latter two components. Anything else will not be editable.
Within this class, I have a few Scavenger Hunt assignments. The Wiki may be a better environment to add the information than how it is set up currently. Participants can then see what another person has added…Making the next person search out somewhere different; this making the assignment more difficult…Though I like the idea of participants creating notecards in-world, this may be a different solution…Still not sure how this aspect will play out…Mulling it around in the brain now…Ouch!…I think I hurt myself by thinking too hard
Within the tutorials, more than just video can be added. Scripts and animations for participants to use can also be placed here. This may also be more useful for the final exam than how it is implemented at the present…I’d think about it more “but” I don’t want to hurt myself again…
All in all, it seems that the Wiki can be of use. The class already has a Blog…Why not add the Wiki…Geez…Am I just creating more work for myself? I thought technology was suppose to make my life easier…
WACKY WEEK May 1, 2009
Man! What a crazy week. The semester is coming to a close at Yavapai. The end of one session and beginning of another at The Art Institute. And of course…Getting ready for Summer Institute. Geez…It all hits at once. On top of this…TECHNOLOGY FAILURE!!!
When speaking with my co-worker on technology fatigue, he suggested looking at the computer as my companion (pet dog to be exact) and feeling compassion. After our scheduled Banner training, I found this to be very helpful. To show compassion to this piece of crap technology was idiotic enough to work!
As the day dwindles down to a close (for Yavapai College), my hopes are for a smooth week wh
en Monday rolls around. It will be nice to get all the workshop material completed and set up for Summer Institute. After which, I can concentrate on the door flyers, sign-in sheets, headphones, software, registration, Banner, CSA, EDU, ART…Oh No! It’s starting all over again!
Summer Institute April 28, 2009

For now, we (TELS Department) are gearing up for our Summer Institute 2009. This three day venue hold sessions for Faculty on all types of topics. There are very basic workshops offered on technology such as Camtasia, Blackboard and Office to using YouTube and Google Docs in class. Exciting for me are the two workshops unrelated to technology yet so important…Tracking (small animal) and Music Therapy. So….If you do not see me for awhile…You know what I’m doing…
Just Because… April 16, 2009
A fellow co-worker has insisted on blogging daily which has inspired m,e to try to do this as well. I could learn to communicate better if I continually typed
It is not that I have nothing to say, it is that I would rather listen to others and then interpret the truths of the situations. I believe that anyone can contribute to the topic if so desired. This is all about the connectivism style of learning. If you have not read up on this, I highly advice you to do so. Very interesting stuff!
Today, my goal was t complete the Sloan-C Presentation video…Here it is. I’d love to here feedback
